Dignity first
The client decides how their day runs. We adapt to the household, not the other way round.
PlugCare is a Canadian senior home care provider. We do one thing: help older adults in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario stay safely in their own homes, with caregivers who are screened, trained and deliberately matched.
Canada is short of care and long on waiting lists. Hospitals are full of people who are medically ready to leave and have nowhere safe to go. Long-term care beds have waiting lists measured in years. Meanwhile the overwhelming majority of older Canadians say the same thing when asked: they want to stay in their own home.
The obstacle is rarely a single medical event. It is the slow accumulation of small things — the laundry, the groceries, the drive to the specialist, the empty afternoons — until a family concludes that home is no longer workable. Almost all of that is solvable with the right person showing up consistently.
So we built the care company we kept wishing existed: proper screening, real training, deliberate matching on language and temperament, pricing published in plain numbers, and the same caregiver returning week after week instead of a rotating cast of strangers.

Make it realistic for older Canadians to age in their own homes, safely and with dignity, for as long as they choose to.

Including when the true thing is that you do not need us, or need less of us than you thought.
We would rather serve fewer families properly than grow into a rotating cast of strangers.
Pay, training, supervision and respect for our caregivers are not overhead. They are the service.
We serve a diverse region, and our caregiver roster is meant to look like it — language, culture and background included.
Care plans, visit notes, rates and complaint outcomes are documented. If it is not written down, it did not happen.
PlugCare works alongside public funders, community foundations, post-secondary institutions and private partners supporting seniors and home care in Eastern Ontario.

Mum has the same two caregivers every week and she calls them by name now. After a year of rotating strangers from the last agency, that is everything.
They drove Dad to every oncology appointment, took notes, and emailed me the summary before I even got out of my own meeting. I stopped taking days off work.
I needed someone who spoke French with my mother and understood how she was raised. PlugCare was the only one who treated that as a requirement rather than a preference.

Neither are most families when they call. That is what the free assessment is for — a nurse tells you honestly what is needed, including when the answer is “less than you think”.
